Buses and Guides ready for the first hunt

South Dakota wildlife officials just announced an estimated 42 percent jump in pheasant numbers. The pheasants-per-mile index is at 3.8, up from 2.68 last year, and 1.5 in 2013. That’s going to make for some great hunting in the ringneck state. But as encouraging as that figure is, Paul says he knows of a place where he thinks the rebound numbers are even higher. On the Paul Nelson Farm.

“Our numbers are looking even higher than that. We’ve just had a perfect storm of positive conditions for the hens and chick survival.”

-Paul

And that, as all good hunters know, is what it takes to get those heavy rooster densities in the heartland. Combine that with Paul Nelson Farm habitat stewardship and well, you can pretty much expect a hunting season of sky high numbers and that inevitable rooster cloud rush.
